The Navajo Nation Forestry Department (NNFD) developed a Navajo Nation Forest Management Plan that: (1) promotes the sustained use and protection of forest resources; (2) guides development of multi-year implementation programs for the NNFD; and (3) provides direction to achieve on-the-ground results. Its purpose is to implement policies that meet the demand for the forest resources, while ensuring that the forest ecosystem remains healthy and available for future generations. The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) assessed five alternatives related to the Forest Management Plan.
