ETD Inc. is often involved in projects that require community outreach and public relations. For example, the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), requires public scoping to develop an understanding of the public's issues, especially for controversial projects.
At the outset of any community outreach effort or public relations campaign, we carefully identify our client's outreach goals and realistic ways to implement them. For our rural planning projects, a significant amount of input is needed from the community members from the time the plan is initiated until its completion and formal adoption.
Every community has different limitations and outreach must be specific to each community. Some ways that we achieve public input is through community values surveys, facilitating and participating in public meetings, preparing newsletters and fact-sheets, or producing press releases for news media and radio announcements. We also design websites that can be paired with social media outlets.
